KAYSVILLE - Phyllis Warner Whitesides passed away peacefully on Monday morning, July 23, 2007 in Ogden.

Born on July 8, 1926 to Ralph Goodman and Catherine Freestone Warner, Phyllis enjoyed a wonderful childhood with seven brothers and sisters on the family farm in Mountain Green.

Following graduation from Morgan High School, she briefly attended the "A.C." in Logan before meeting Richard D. Whitesides while working at the Mutual Creamery in Ogden. They were married April 28, 1945 and settled in Layton and Kaysville where they were blessed with three children, Jody, Jimmy and Melanie.

Phyllis was proud of her seventeen years at Hill Air Force Base, where she started as "Rosie the Riveter" during World War II and ended as a computer programmer before retiring in 1975.

A life long member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she enjoyed serving in many callings especially Primary and Scouting.

She also appreciated the friendship and support of many wonderful coworkers and neighbors through the years and spoke frequently and lovingly about her childhood and work experiences. Her greatest joy was family. Whether helping with homework, supervising the Saturday house cleaning, vacationing at Bear Lake or Disneyland (or wherever else the family traveled), gathering for Christmas and other holidays, watching drill team performances, wrestling matches, rodeos, baseball or football games, Phyllis loved being with her children and grandchildren.

Next to her marriage and the birth of her children, the highlight of her life came in 1972 when the family was sealed in the Salt Lake Temple. The knowledge that "families can be together forever" sustained Phyllis through difficult health challenges later in her life and has brought comfort and joy to those temporarily left behind.

Phyllis is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, Richard, her son Jim and his wife Tina, and her daughter Melanie as well as three grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, two sisters, June Poll and Kay Warner and one brother, Paul Warner.

She was preceded in death by her son Jody, her parents and siblings Margaret Ranson, Dorothy Wilkinson, Lloyd Warner and Eileen Burton.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 28, 2007 at 12 noon at Lindquist''s Layton Mortuary, 1867 N. Fairfield Road. Friends and family may call Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 10:30 to 11:30 at the mortuary.

Interment, Kaysville City Cemetery.

To all who have meant so much to Phyllis through the years, the family extends their deepest love and sincere appreciation.
