Polly Ann Haslam Peterson

Polly Ann Haslam Peterson, loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, departed this mortal existence on July 26, 2013 of causes incident to age.

She was born on May 2, 1917, the youngest child of Henry M. and Polley Ann Gunnell Haslam. Her early years were spent attending school and working on her father''s farm in Cache Valley.

On March 24, 1936, she married Clarence Jacob Peterson. For the next several years, the Peterson family lived and worked on family farms in Box Elder and Cache Counties. In 1944, like many northern Utahns, the family was led from Perry, Utah to Ogden, Utah by the employment opportunities that were the results of World War II.

She was a homemaker who was fiercely loyal to her family and she was an excellent cook. Her apple pie, homemade bread, and scones were second to none. She worked in several store-fronts in Ogden and spent several years working in the bakery in the Dinner Horn food store.

Polly was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Her marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake temple on February 18, 1955. She and her husband enjoyed participating in Temple Ordinances.

Polly is survived by her children, Paul Peterson, Lois Deru, Karon Peterson, Joyce (Rob) Platt, and Gene (Jeanne) Peterson; nine grandchildren, and 17 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband and her son-in-law, Robert Deru.

Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, July 30, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at Lindquist''s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd., with Bishop Russell L. Hansen officiating.

The family deeply appreciates the tender loving care provided by the staff of Vista Hospice.
