R. Lorraine Barry
CLEARFIELD – Rhoda Lorraine Barry died Thursday, December 27, 2007 at Rocky Mountain Care Center in Clearfield, Utah. She was 75 years old.
Lorraine was born in American Falls, Idaho, April 18, 1932 the first child of David Williams and Irene Louise Vaughn. She lived in Idaho in her early childhood years then moved to Ogden when she was 13 years old. She graduated from Ogden High School and from Graceland College, a parochial college in Iowa, with a degree in business. She returned to Ogden and attended Steven’s Henager Business College for a year where she earned a certificate in business.
Lorraine married Joe Crawford in 1954. They were later divorced. She married Floyd Barry and they were later divorced.
She worked for many years at Hill Air Force Base as a clerk typist and secretary, retiring after 20 years of service.
Lorraine had many fond memories of her service as a member of the USO during the Korean War.
She was a gifted artist, excelling in oil painting. She was also an avid reader. She compiled a church history for her church, Community of Christ, which earned her great acclaim. She served as church historian for several years.
During the latter part of her life, Lorraine suffered intense pain from a condition that immobilized and crippled her.
She is survived by one daughter, Susan (Paul) Kuykendall, Vancouver, WA; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
She is also survived by a brother, David Wayne (Margaret) Vaughn, Riverdale; and Laurilee (Ron) Bork, Willamette, OR.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 2 at 11 a.m. at the Community of Christ Church, 848 – 7th Street.
Friends and family may call at the church on Wednesday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m.
