Ralph Alexander Barneck Jr.
CLEARFIELD a" Ralph Alexander Barneck Jr., our beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother, passed away peacefully on September 3, 2010 in his sleep. He passed away from complications of Parkinson''s Disease.
Ralph was born February 16, 1926 in Salt Lake City, UT to Ralph Alexander and Melba Matilda Freshwater Barneck. He grew up in Salt Lake and Minerals Wells, TX. He was a Master Sergeant in the U.S. Army and served in the Korean War.
He married his lifetime sweetheart, Norma Thorpe, on November 9, 1951 in the Salt Lake Temple for time and all eternity.
He will be remembered as owner and operator of Barneck Pre-School in Clearfield for over 50 years with his wife Norma.
Dad served a stake mission as a young man. He and Norma also served together in the California San Diego and Wisconsin Milwaukee missions. Dad held many positions in the church a" Bishop, ward clerk, high councilman, stake finance clerk, stake auditor, and ordinance worker in the Ogden Temple. He was dedicated and constant in his devotion to the Savior. He has truly returned home with honor.
Dad had a lifetime love of computers and programming. He worked as a computer analyst at Defense Depot Ogden for 38 years before retiring from Civil Service. He served as an executor of three family trusts, as secretary of the Home & Irrigation Company, and as a member of the Clearfield City Planning Commission. He had a great love of reading and genealogy.
Dad is survived by children: Afton Melcher (Wally), Jolene Goff, David Barneck (Debi), Launa Higbee (Ken), Robyn Ely (John), and Douglas Barneck (Kristine). He is also survived by his only brother, Charles Barneck of Bountiful and his wife Evelyn, and sister-in-law, Arthella Warner of Salt Lake and husband Marven. He is also survived by grandchildren: Brian, Benjamin, Kimberly, Andrew, Tony, Michael, David (Melcher), Todd, Brett, Sean (Goff), Joshua, Erin, Holli, Kenzie, Chelsie (Barneck), Rachel, Rebecca (Higbee), Alex (Ely), Jessica, Mitchell, Nickole, and Samantha (Barneck) and ten great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by his parents and wife Norma.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 11, 2010 at 2 p.m. at the Clearfield 6th Ward Chapel, 975 North 250 West, Sunset. Friends may visit family Friday from 6-8 p.m. at Lindquist''s Layton Mortuary, 1867 N. Fairfield Road and Saturday from 12:45 to 1:45 p.m. at the church.
Interment, Clinton City Cemetery, 500 West 800 North, Clinton.
