Ralph Stanford Butler, having fulfilled an honorable earthly mission, has returned to his heavenly home. He was greeted by his parents, Leland Stanford and Allie Mae Rochester Butler, three brothers and a sister. He died in his sleep, Thursday October 27, 2011 at his home in Layton.

He married Mildred Martin on November 16, 1946, in Gaffney, SC. He and his eternal companion shared their home in Layton for over 50 years. Into this home was added six children, Stan (Linda), Hugh (Marsha), Theresa (Val) Johnson, Dan (Pauline), Tom (Dorothy), Tim (Sharon), 15 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, with bonus additions from other marriages.

Ralph served his country honorably during WWII and made the military a career retiring from HAFB in 1963. He also worked as a civilian at HAFB and retired.

He filled a mission for the LDS Church with his wife in the Iowa Des Moines Mission and also in the Ogden Temple with his companion. Ralph loved Temple attendance and continued faithful weekly attendance up until his health failed. The Book of Mormon was his favorite scriptures and he shared his testimony easily with everyone.

Ralph's body will be at Lindquist's Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road for all who would care to visit on Monday, October 31, 2011 from 12 to 6 p.m., also the family will meet friends at the home Ralph worked so hard through the years to make a comfortable place for his family, 4 Prows Circle, Layton, on Monday, October 31, 2011 from 12 to 6 p.m.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, November 1, 2011 at 10 a.m. at the Valley View Stake Center, 1589 E. Gentile, Layton. Interment, Lindquist's Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd., where military honors will be accorded.
