Ralph L. Rivera

Ralph L. Rivera ROY – Ralph LeeRoy Rivera, 72, died Sunday, June 20, 2010 at his home in Roy. He was born March 20, 1938 in Segundo, Colorado, a son of Ralph Sr. and Rachel Lopez Rivera. Ralph married Merline Allen in 1957. Their marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple in 1966. She preceded him in death. On January 8, 2000, Ralph married Faye Pebley in Roy. He served his country with the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. Ralph was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served in many church callings. He and Faye served a 15-month mission for LDS Employment Resources Office in Roy. They were also companion Home Teachers. He owned several businesses but retired from the Ogden Depot following many years of service. In 1983, Ralph won the World Pigeon Racing Championship and at the time was only the second American to do so. He was Utah’s second biggest parrot breeder. He loved people and loved to help them. He also loved to cook and wanted to feed everyone he knew. Ralph wintered in Parker, Arizona and had many friends there. Surviving are his wife, Faye, of Roy; two sons and two daughters, Terry (Deborah) Rivera, Danny (Leotta) Rivera, Susan (Dave) Jackson, Janet (Kevin) Luhn; and 12 grandchildren. Also surviving is one sister, Georgia Ludean McCoy, Green River, WY. Ralph was preceded in death by his first wife, Merline, one grandson, his parents, five brothers and two sisters. Graveside services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd., where Military Honors will be accorded.
