Ramona Poulson Barker

Ramona Poulson Barker passed away peacefully in her home on Thursday, September 25, 2014 at age 83.

She was born January 13, 1931 in Ogden, Utah. She was the daughter of Weston A. Poulson and Mabel Combe Poulson. She grew up in South Ogden, Utah and attended Burch Creek Elementary, Riverdale Junior High, Weber High, and Weber State College.

She married Bert E. Cook on June 6, 1950 in the Logan, Utah Temple. They were blessed with five children, Cathy (Parley) Baldwin, Cindy (Jeff) Bennett, Carl (Lynette) Cook, Gregory (Shauna) Cook, and Melinda (Dan) Kerns, who were raised in Plain City, Utah. Later in life she married Marvin C. Barker and they shared some wonderful years together prior to his passing.

Ramona retired from Wonder Bread Bakery, where she worked as office manager for many years. Following her retirement she was Director of the North Ogden Senior Citizen Center. She was instrumental in developing it into a thriving organization serving seniors with a variety of programs. She played the clarinet, and she loved to jitterbug and line dance. She was an outdoor enthusiast, and enjoyed horseback riding, barrel racing, four wheeling, and was always up for an adventure.

She was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Her life was a reflection of her deep love for the Savior Jesus Christ.

She was a loyal friend, and showed unconditional love to all. She will be remembered for her delicious cooking and generous hospitality. She loved to serve others, and delighted in her family. She was a gifted nurturer. She will be greatly missed by young and old alike.

She was preceded in death by Ashley Baldwin, a granddaughter; Carol (Daurel) Barnes, a sister; and two of her brothers, Vernal Poulson and Virgil Poulson. She is survived by her children and spouses; 18 grandchildren; 38 great grandchildren; her sister, Elaine (Ross) Clausse; her brother, Weston (Bonnie) Poulson; her sister-in-law, Lynette (Vernal) Poulson; and many nieces and nephews.

Family will meet with friends on Sunday, September 28, 2014 at Lindquist’s North Ogden Mortuary, 2140 North Washington Blvd. from 6 to 8 p.m. and Monday, September 29th at the Pleasant View 2nd Ward meetinghouse, 250 W. Elberta Drive, North Ogden from 9:30 to10:30 a.m. Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m.

Interment, Lindquist’s Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch, 1718 Combe Road, South Ogden.
