Ramona Rose Patterson
December 13, 1928 ~ November 7, 2015
Ramona Rose Patterson (nee Grunewald), passed away peacefully at Sunrise Assisted Living Center in Holladay, Utah, on November 7, 2015. Ramona was born on December 13, 1928, in Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada, the second of four children to Emily Helen Cheney and Waldo Barnette Grunewald. She grew up in Coaldale, Alberta. After high school Ramona attended Brigham Young University and furthered her education in nursing in Edmonton, Alberta.
She married her “handsome duffer,” Lewis Blaine Patterson in the Cardston LDS Temple on July 20, 1950, and immediately started their family. They raised their five children in Clinton, Utah.
Ramona, who was always “dressed to the nines,” loved being around people and was very social. She made many good friends through her work as a fashion consultant for women’s clothing. She was an artist when it came to quilting and making hand-rolled silk roses. She won several ribbons for both at the county and state fairs. She also loved to bake and her homemade rolls and cinnamon rolls were legendary.
Ramona was an accomplished pianist and loved to play for family and friends. She had a beautiful voice and sang on the radio in her youth in Canada. After she was married, she and a group of friends started a singing group and they performed throughout northern Utah as the Clintones.
But Ramona’s greatest joy was her children and their families and she took pride in all they did. Her eyes would light up and her face would blossom into a smile whenever any of them came to visit.
Ramona is survived by her brother Ronald (Linda) Grunewald, sisters Cathyrn (Robert, dec.) Brandley and Bonnie Jean (Charles) Cox; children: Kerry (Linda) Patterson, Kristine Anderson, Kathi (Chris) Jacques, Kraig (Jan) Patterson, and Kevin (Steve Vaughan) Patterson; 12 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. She was proceeded in death by her parents, husband Lewis, and grandsons Sean Patterson and Adam Turner, and granddaughter of fur, Caydee Rose.
The family would like to thank a special friends Eric (Helmer) Vangsnes, Ana Guzman, and Jim Jensen; George Wright and the staff at Sunrise Assisted Living Center, and Margy Campbell and the staff at Guardian and Conservator Services, with very special thanks to her wonderful caregivers: Meleane, Genie, and Ali.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 13, 2015 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. Friends may visit with family on Friday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. at the mortuary. Interment, Ogden City Cemetery.
