Ramona McFarland Shurtliff
Ramona McFarland Shurtliff passed away on Wednesday, October 10, 2012 in Ogden. She was born December 5, 1926, the daughter of Roy and Martha Bingham McFarland. She was raised in South Ogden and spent most of her life in the Ogden area. She attended school in Ogden, and graduated Weber High School in 1944 and BYU in 1948.
She spent her career as a Home Economics teacher at Weber High School, and later at North Ogden Junior High. She was involved in many community activities. She and her husband worked with Scouting in West Weber and Ogden. Ramona served as a Cub Scout leader, and spent many years working with children in 4-H. She held many positions in her church in both Ogden and Texas. She was a master seamstress and volunteered in the community her whole life teaching others how to sew. She made clothing for all her children and grandchildren.
Ramona married Edward R. Shurtliff on December 17, 1948 in the Salt Lake Temple. Together they had five children, Steven Edward of Ogden; Dianne Hunt of Boise, Idaho; Roy Mac (Cassie) of Morgan Hill, CA; Lew Mitchel (Sharon) of West Point; and Eileen Guenther (Walt) of Damascus, OR.
Ramona is survived by her children and her grandchildren, Andrew, Taylor, Elizabeth, Jessica, Lee, Lewis, Megan, Benton, Keri, and Angie, and great-granddaughter, Ellie.
She was preceded in death by her husband Ed, her grandsons Robert and Nathan and parents.
Graveside services will be held on Monday, October 15, 2012 at 11 a.m. at the West Weber Cemetery. Friends may visit with family on Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist''s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd.
