Ramona Mae Johansen Whipple
July 30, 1920 ~ March 2, 2017
Born Ramona Mae Johansen on July 30, 1920 in Tyler, Minnesota; she was the only girl with six brothers, growing up on a farm.
Ramona met Wayne Whipple at a dance during WWII, while he was home on leave and they were married in South Carolina on April 14, 1945. After the war, Wayne was a salesman and moved Ramona around to many new states and towns, where they made many friends that she continued to be in contact with over many years.
Wayne and Ramona had three children, Pam, Sandy, and John. They eventually settled in Ogden in 1963, where they attended First United Methodist Church of Ogden. She was very active in United Methodist Women and maintained many close friends there. Also, she enjoyed over 25 years of volunteer work at Ogden Regional Medical Center.
Ramona is survived by her three children and their spouses, six grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren with another baby on the way.
After Wayne passed away in 1995, Ramona was blessed with a terrific friend/companion in Harley Christofferson. They enjoyed over 15 years of friendship until his passing in September 2013.
Life at Mountain Ridge has been amazing, full of caring staff and friends. Their care and love made an impact on not only Ramona, but her family as well.
