Randy Lane Van Ausdal died peacefully on September 23, 2018 in Bountiful, Utah. He was born November 8, 1958 in Tucson, Arizona to Alton Van Ausdal and Lorna Simonsen.
Randy’s father was a pilot in the Air Force, so that meant multiple moves across the country and around the world until his dad retired in the 1970s. Time spent at Toul Rosieres in the east of France was the favorite. Randy graduated from Davis High School where his favorite activity was debate. Come to think of it, he probably liked doing that at home, too.
After graduation Randy spent a summer picking pineapple in Hawaii and gave college a try, but soon opted for a stint in the Air Force where he learned to do finance and accounting. He would use those skills after his discharge at a local law firm and then as night auditor at a local hotel. Before long he moved on to his favorite job at Western Airlines (later Delta). Later he would give long haul truck driving a try.
Randy spent the last years of his life dealing with health issues that limited his ability to work, but not his ability to get around town on his motorized wheel chair. No doubt many Bountiful residents came to recognize him. When he got his latest model the odometer on the old wheelchair registered more than 1,300 miles!
Randy loved children and never gave up being one himself. He loved gadgets and anything with lots of buttons to push.
He is survived by his sisters Denise (Rodger) Purdy and Trina Van Ausdal, his brother Kevin (Barbara) Van Ausdal, numerous nieces and nephews, and many more relatives who he loved connecting with on Facebook. He was preceded in death by both parents.
