Together Again
Ray Henry Allred, our beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather as well as devoted husband of 67 years to his sweetheart Juanita S. Allred, died after a valiant fight with cancer on February 2, 2013, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born on December 2, 1918 in Ogden to Maude Butler and Henry G. Allred. On January 1, 1944 he married Juanita "Nita" Sewell in Ogden. He attended Ogden City schools and served in the United States Air Force in WWII as a Corporal. He retired from Hill Air Force Base after 34 years of service as a foreman in the aircraft sheet metal shop. He was featured in a newspaper article and television interview on being one of the first 100 civilians employed at HAFB for its 70 year anniversary.
Ray was a kind, generous, and gentle man, always willing to help a friend or neighbor. Many hours were spent working in the garage building something or fixing cars with his son and being nurtured by his daughter-in-law, Debbie.
He especially enjoyed traveling with his wife in their motorhome. For many years they became snowbirds, traveling to warmer climates in the winter months. He enjoyed watching his grandchildren participate in various sports and was an avid Jazz fan for many years. He loved the relationship he renewed with his two wonderful sisters, Sharon and Lois, and their numerous luncheon dates they had together. Ray thought highly of his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Ray and Lola Sewell, who were very kind and loving. He also always looked forward to his haircuts with Diana Wilcoxen.
He was an Elder in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Our family would like to thank his longtime home teachers, Mike and Cheri Argyle for all their love for many years. There was always "pie" when they got together.
Ray is survived by his daughter, Susan A. (Randall) Robinson of Kennwick, WA; son, David R. (Debbie) Allred of Riverdale; grandchildren, Tara (DJ) Weaver, Brandon (Shawnie) Allred, Tiffanie Brian, Cortland (Emilie) Robinson, and Ashley (David) Gilbert; as well as his step-grandchildren whom he loved dearly as his own, Brody (Kim) Warren, Casey (Candice) Warren, Chris (Jana) Warren, Danny (Jenn) Robinson, and Barry (Lori) Robinson; 24 great-grandchildren; sisters, Lois (Allen) Burt and Sharon Schumers of Ogden, along with his dogs, Nikki and Roxie.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Nita; parents; brother, Thair Allred; sister, Irene Pierce; great-grandson, Heston Brian; step-grandson, Shon J. Warren; and best friend and work buddy, Wallace Feller. We would like to thank Encompass Home Hospice and loving caregivers, Tammy, Amy, and Miller
