Ray Franklin Bryner

Ray Franklin Bryner passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, October 12, 2014, reuniting with his wife, Lavora. He was born on July 12, 1921 in Ogden, UT to William J. and Aradnie Laub Bryner. While a small boy he lived in Enterprise, UT and Pocatello, ID. The family then moved back to Ogden to reside.
He graduated from Ogden High School. He fought forest fires for one summer and was attending Electrical School at Utah State when WWII broke out. He was one of the first in the Ogden area to enlist. He served in the Army Air Corps with the 95th Bombardment Group. He was stationed in England as an airplane mechanic servicing B-17 bombers.
Ray married Lavora Slater on June 6, 1946 in the Logan LDS Temple. She passed away on June 8, 1994. He was also preceded in death by one daughter, Beverly, and all of his siblings. Ray is survived by four children, Alan (Linda) Bryner of Pleasant View; Brent (Annette) Bryner of Logan; Blaine (Cheryl) Bryner of Syracuse; and Janice (Kevin) Dabb of Kaysville; 29 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren, brother-in-law, Dick Blom; and sister-in-law, Marie Bryner.
He worked in the Meter Department of Utah Power and Light Co. retiring after 38 years. He and Lavora then served a mission to Tallahassee, FL from 1983-84. He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served as a Stake Missionary, Ward Clerk, served in two bishoprics, and worked in the Ogden LDS Temple. He dedicated many years to scouting and influenced many young men. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and gardening and always shared what he had with others. He will be greatly missed by all who love him.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 16, 2014 at 11 a.m. at the Lorin Farr 2nd Ward, 480 East 7th St., Ogden. Friends may visit with family on Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd., and Thursday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church.
Interment, Lindquist’s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.
