Ray E. Rees
NORTH OGDEN – Ray Earl Rees, 86, died Thursday, October 11, 2007 at his home, two weeks shy of his 87th birthday.
He was born October 21, 1920 in Malad, Idaho, a son of Gomer Vaughan and Eliza Mae Williams Rees.
On March 27, 1946, Ray married Pollyanna Johnson in Ogden.
He was raised and educated in Malad, Idaho, graduating from Malad High School in 1938. He was the State Golden Gloves Boxer. He later moved to North Ogden where he resided for most of his life.
Ray was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He was a High Priest in the Mountain Ward, North Ogden Coldwater Stake.
As a veteran of World War II serving with the U.S. Air Force, he flew 52 Bombing Missions over North Africa and Italy, earning him the Purple Heart and the Distinguished Flying Cross.
Ray retired from Hill Air Force Base following 34 years of service.
He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans. Ray enjoyed horses, fishing, and hunting. Most of all, he loved spending time with his grandchildren.
Surviving are his wife, Pollyanna, of North Ogden; three daughters, Dawn (Bob) Zielinski, Norco, CA; Holley Rae (Hal) Jorgensen, North Ogden; Kami (Curtis) Cox, Kaysville; 10 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
Preceding Ray in death was his daughter, Jill, three granddaughters, one great-grandson, three brothers and one sister.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the Mountain Ward Chapel, 1700 North 785 East.
Friends may call at Lindquist’s North Ogden Mortuary, 2140 North Washington Blvd., on Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday at the Ward Chapel 9:45 to 10:45 a.m.
Interment, Ben Lomond Cemetery.
