Raymond Henry Adams
OGDEN a" Raymond Henry Adams, 84, passed away at his home on Friday, December 31, 2010.
Ray was born January 21, 1926 in Ogden, Utah, to Raymond and Sarah Adams. He was educated in Ogden City Schools and graduated from the University of Utah with a Bachelor''s degree in Education. He was a member of the Sigma Chi Fraternity.
He taught 5th & 6th grades at Horace Mann Elementary for 30 years. He was the teacher every kid wanted and loved. He retired from teaching in 1979. He served as the President of the Teacher''s Association for two years. He served as President of the Railroad Union for three years. He was a hard worker and always provided for his family.
Ray married Beverley Thurgood on August 22, 1949, and she passed away on May 17, 1978. They raised five children together, and he was the best father in the world. He married Elsie Ray on December 21, 1978 and they were married 30 years. Ray and Elsie enjoyed their retirement years golfing, bowling, and traveling and spending time with their dogs, Rusty, Chi Chi, and Molly. Elsie passed away on August 8, 2009.
Ray was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day-Saints.
In his spare time, Ray was an avid golfer and bowler. He had two holes-in-one and was a member of the Board of Directors of the Ben Lomond Golf Course for six years and served as President for two years. He was a member of the Board of Directors and was the President of the Bowling Association. He was inducted into the Bowling Hall of Fame in 1988.
Ray''s children and their spouses are Juli and Jim Burkdoll, Lori and Kim O''Dell, Greg and Debbie Adams, Gary Adams, and Glen and Sydne Adams. He has 13 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, two stepsons, Steve and Nancy Ray, and Ron and Connie Ray, eight step-grandchildren, 22 step-great-grandchildren, nieces Denise and Diane, and nephew Jeff.
Ray was preceded in death by his parents and his wives, Beverley and Elsie.
The family wishes to express their gratitude to the staff of Burchcreek Homecare and Hospice for their wonderful care of our dad a" especially Susan Watson, who was always there when she was needed.
Graveside services will be held Wednesday, January 12 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist''s Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch, 1718 Combe Road, South Ogden.
Family will meet with friends at Lindquist''s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd, on Wednesday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.
