Raymond D. Arave
WASHINGTON TERRACE – Raymond Duane Arave, 80, passed away on Wednesday, May 13, 2009, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born November 23, 1928 in Hooper, a son of Raymond E. and Beatrice Lund Arave. He attended Weber High School and enlisted with the U.S. Navy following graduation. He served aboard the USS Sevier during World War II.
Ray married Opal Harris in 1947 and they had three daughters: Gloria Lynn, DeAnn and Trudy. They later divorced. He married Ann Berrett in 1957 and together they had one daughter Tanya and one son Raymond Brett. They were later divorced. Ray married Jane Murray in 1967. They had one daughter Cindy and one son Dale. Ray also helped raise three stepdaughters and one stepson.
He worked in the roofing business all of his life. He loved the business and loved to be on the rooftops.
Ray loved fishing and camping.
Surviving are his wife, Jane; daughters, Tanya Smith and Cindy (Rob) Hershberger; sons, Raymond Brett Arave and Dale Earl (Becky) Arave; two stepdaughters, Linda Ann Stoeckl and Marilyn Anderson; 24 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Also surviving are his brother, Kent G. Arave and sister, Norma Earl.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Kay Arave, stepdaughter, Kim Jacobs, stepson, Mike Anderson and a grandson, Preston Anderson.
The family expresses thanks to the loving staff at Alpine Hospice for their care of Ray.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd.
Friends may call at the mortuary on Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Monday 12:45 to 1:45 p.m.
Interment, Lindquist’s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd., where Military Honors will be accorded.
