Raymond Cecil Briggs

August 23, 1950 ~ January 13, 2018

Raymond Cecil Briggs, age 67, passed away on Saturday, January 13, 2018 at the George E. Wahlen Veterans Home. He was born on August 23, 1950 in Ocala, Florida, the son of Edward Eugene and Bertie Lee Briggs.

Raymond joined the Army September 12, 1968 to serve our country during the Vietnam War and earned a Purple Heart for his service.  He continued to serve in the Army both stateside and on three tours to Belgium until being honorably discharged August 11, 1983.

Raymond married Martha Jane Lamb on December 29, 1971 and had four children. Several years after his discharge from the Army, Raymond and his family settled in Sunset, Utah, and he spent the rest of his career working for the Defense Information Systems Agency at Hill Air Force Base as a Computer Security Specialist until his retirement in August 2006.

Raymond is survived by his children, Heather Renee Briggs of Coon Rapids, MN; Geoffrey Barrett Briggs of Farmington, UT; Laura Christine (Daniel) Hamilton of West Valley, UT; Jennifer Lynn Briggs of Clearfield, UT; along with his eight grandchildren Rulon, Dawson, Ahmad, Greyson, Zaid, Jackson, Adnan, and Natalya.

Raymond was preceded in death by his wife, Martha Jane Lamb who passed on February 18, 2000.

A Memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 3, 2018 at 6:30 p.m. at the George E. Wahlen Veterans Home, 1102 North 1200 West, Ogden UT 84404.  The memorial will be a celebration of Raymond’s life and love for others, so we ask that everyone come comfortable and be prepared to share a favorite memory for his children to cherish. Services entrusted to Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary.
