Raymond E. Brogan
NORTH OGDEN – Raymond Edward Brogan, 71, peacefully passed away Sunday, December 30, 2007, at his home following an extended illness. He was born August 7, 1936 in Harrisburg, Illinois, a son of William Edward and Mary Marguerite Brogan. Ray graduated from Harrisburg Township High School in 1954.
He married Anna “Grace” Simpson on December 1, 1957. Gracey passed away January 3, 1968. Ray married Betty Jean Lippold Durbin on July 19, 1985. Their marriage was solemnized in the Ogden LDS Temple July 19, 1997. They served as ordinance workers together in the Ogden Temple from 2000 to 2006. Ray was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints North Ogden 7th Ward.
He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict serving with the U.S. Army.
Ray is survived by his sweetheart, Betty, and six children, David Quinn (Crystal) Brogan, Ogden; Kenneth Scott (Jennifer) Durbin, Midvale; Dawn Michelle Durbin, Peachtree City, GA; John Douglas (Rosa) Durbin, Ogden; Eric Nathaniel (Jessica) Durbin, North Ogden; and Lisa Babette (Ryan) Craythorn, Roy; and 19 grandchildren. Also surviving are his brother, Randall (JoAnn) Brogan, Joliet, IL; sister, Patricia (David) Wilson, Kingwood, TX; mother-in-law, Barbara Lippold, Malad, ID; many nieces and nephews, and many, many friends, each one very special to him.
Ray was preceded in death by his parents, first wife Gracey, brothers Roy and Robert, and sisters Sabria, Helen, Mary Ellen, Betty Ann, and Nina Ruth.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. Friends may call at the mortuary on Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Friday 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. Interment, Malad, Idaho City Cemetery. Email condolences to the family at: www.lindquistmortuary.com
