Retired SMSGT Raymond Coomes has joined his wife, MSGT Janet Coomes on their eternal fishing trip.
He was born December 14, 1940 to George and Lola Coomes. Ray enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in September 1960 and retired in 1992.
He was an outdoor man. He loved camping, fishing, hunting and boating on lakes. He also loved football, basketball and baseball. For numerous years he bought season tickets to the Utah Jazz and enjoyed going to every game with family and friends. He played on numerous softball teams for recreation and work leagues. He also took up golfing which he loved, when he was younger he played it, when he was older he fell asleep watching it. His most prized role was being Grandpa, he will always be known as Grandpa to all and many.
Ray is survived by his children, Kenny (Peggy) Coomes, Cheryl (Chuck) Shaddick, Vickie (Greg) Champneys, Angela Rhodes, Candice Sampson; 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, February 5, 2018 at Lindquist’s Roy Mortuary, 3333 West 5600 South. The family will meet with friends Sunday, February 4th from 6 to 8 p.m. and Monday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the mortuary.
Interment, Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park, 13001 South 3600 West, Riverton.
