Raymond Arthur Crane

LAYTON a€" Raymond Arthur Crane passed away January 5, 2013 in his home surrounded by loved ones. Born April 4, 1922, in Adelaide, South Australia, raised by loving parents William Robert Arthur and Florence Irene Crane.

Raymond married his sweetheart Elizabeth Florence Cummings, on May 6, 1953 in the Cardston, Alberta Temple, and has five children.

Raymond lived a life serving others. He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. As a young man he served the people of the Samoan Islands, where he later returned to serve two additional full time missions with his wife.

During his lifetime he served many missions which also included the Tongan Islands, the Mormon Battalion Visitors Center and Temple in San Diego, California, and in the Bountiful Utah Temple. Raymond was faithful and had a love of the gospel that he shared with others, especially his family.

His posterity has served 20 full time missions, with two grandsons currently serving full time missions in Argentina and Chile. Raymond went to school to be an accountant and worked in Canada, California, Australia and Utah as a public accountant for oil companies and other firms. He was patient, focused and accurate in his career, and made many sacrifices to provide for his family.

His family remembers him as being caring, valiant, thoughtful, enduring, loving, brave, kind and grateful. He had a gift for singing and a lovely tenor voice; he also had beautiful penmanship. He had a witty sense of humor, and could brighten a room with his ''one liners''. He was born and raised in Australia and was always an ''Aussie'' at heart. A family motto that he and Elizabeth established early in their lives together is Proverbs 3:5-6, "Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths."

He will be missed dearly by his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his mother, father, and sister, Delsa Davies. He is survived by his wife, brothers Rex Crane, and Gary Crane; children: Gary Raymond (Leilani ) Crane, David Arthur (Cindy) Crane, Murray John (Margaret) Crane, Beverley Helen Florence (Douglas) Harris, Gina Elizabeth (Eric) Nelson, as well as 24 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren whom he loved deeply and dearly.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 12, 2013 at 11 a.m. at the Kays Creek Stake Center, 2680 East Cherry Lane, Layton. Friends may visit family on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist''s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road and Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church.

Interment, Lindquist''s Memorial Park at Layton, 1867 No. Fairfield Road.

Jeffrey R. Holland testifies that for those who embrace the gospel of Jesus Christ, there are good things to come. A special thank you to those who cared for Raymond during his final months, days and hours including, the hospice, nurses, aides, caregivers, Aging Department, and family members who were so tender, loving and caring.

3 Nephi 15:9... Look unto me, and endure to the end, and ye shall live; for unto him that endureth to the end will I give life eternal.
