Raymond James Holley

August 10, 1931 ~ January 18, 2017

Raymond James Holley, 85, passed away on Wednesday, January 18, 2017. He was born to John Amos and Eliza Edith Holley on August 10, 1931, in Ogden, Utah.

Ray grew up in Slaterville and lived in the Ogden area most of his life. He was the sixth child in a family of eleven children. He had a twin sister, Rayola who passed away when she was just six months old.

Ray graduated from Weber High School and went on to work at the railroad until he retired. He then went to work at American Nutrition. Even after his full-time employment ended, he never really retired, always wanting to stay busy.

In his later years, Ray mostly loved socializing and meeting people. He loved going to the senior center, dancing and breakfast at the Branding Iron. He had a dry sense of humor and enjoyed giving the ones he loved most a hard time.

He was a faithful home teacher. He enjoyed attending the Millcreek Ward with his brother Rich, who he has missed since his passing five years ago.

Ray has always enjoyed watching the Utah Jazz.

Ray is survived by three of his siblings, Melba Wahlen, Carl Holley (Sherry), Lee Holley (Kathy). He is also survived by one daughter Linda Holley and two grand-daughters. Ray was preceded in death by his parents John and Eliza Holley, and his siblings Norma Elliott, Fern Wimmer, Rich Holley, Reta Amon, Rayola Holley, Colleen Moran and Lawana Dallinga.

Ray’s family wishes to express their appreciation to the many nurses and staff at Peach Tree Place for the love, care and friendship they showed to Ray.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, January 22, 2017 at 7:00 p.m. at the Lindquist’s Roy Mortuary, 3333 West 5600 South. Friends may visit the family on Sunday prior to the services at the funeral home, from 6:00 p.m. to 6:45 p.m. Ray will be laid to rest at the Ogden City Cemetery on Monday, January 23rd at 12:00 noon next to his twin sister, Rayola and his parents.
