Raymond L. Lanier
OGDEN a" Raymond Leo Lanier, 86, died Monday, May 23, 2011 at McKay-Dee Hospital of pneumonia.
He was born June 5, 1924 in Little Rock, Arkansas, a son of Jessie and Mary Etta Faught Lanier.
Ray married Mary Edna Goodell on August 5, 1946 in Reno, Nevada.
He lived in Arkansas until he was 15 when his family moved to Ogden.
Ray served his country with the U.S. Navy during World War II aboard the troopship Mar Mac Hawk, transporting troops overseas.
He retired from Hill Air Force Base following many years of service in maintenance and painting. He also retired from the McKay-Dee Hospital.
Ray was a member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles for 50 years. He enjoyed gardening. He decorated his home every year for 53 years for the Christmas holidays winning several awards.
Surviving is his wife, Mary Edna Lanier, of Ogden.
Preceding Ray in death were his son Michael Raymond Lanier, his parents, 10 brothers and sisters.
Graveside services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at Lindquist''s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd. where Military Honors will be accorded.
Family will meet friends at Lindquist''s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd., on Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Friday 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.
