Raymond Fox Madsen
November 12, 1935 ~ October 13, 2018
Raymond Fox Madsen passed away on Saturday, October 13, 2018. His loving and generous heart is now being reunited with his Heavenly Father and those who passed before him. Ray was born on November 12, 1935 in Salt Lake City to Andrew Clinton and Elizabeth (Fox) Madsen, and grew up with his 10 siblings. He served in the US Navy Reserves.
Ray married the love of his life and soulmate, Carole Barlow, on September 14, 1956. Ray and Carole had five children and built a beautiful life together in Layton, Utah.
Family was always first and foremost. Ray’s heart was full of love and pride for each member; there was no limit to what he would do for his family. His grandchildren held a very special place in his heart; and he spent countless hours attending school programs and helping with homework and school projects. Ray also cherished his family history and enjoyed learning about and passing on the legacy of those before him. He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and enjoyed serving his church family and Heavenly Father.
Ray loved the outdoors. He enjoyed many outdoor activities including hunting, fishing, and skiing. Gardening was a peaceful pastime where he created an environment that was perfect in many ways, from growing delicious produce to gathering leaves for school projects. He was also able to bring the beauty of nature into his home through oil painting and photography. His love for the outdoors was passed on, and will continue to grow through his children and grandchildren.
Surviving are his wife, Carole; his children, Terrie, Ginette (Steve), Connie (Greg), Curt (Shelley), and Russell (Deirdre); several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and siblings, Carol Christensen, Susie Privett, Bethann Field, and Mary Lynn Evans. Ray was preceded in death by his mother and father; his siblings, Wendall Madsen, Olive Crowton, Audrey Stocking, Beverly Heslop, Earl Madsen, and Hal Madsen; and son-in-law, Tommy Thompson.
