Raymond Edgar Russell, 84, passed away Thursday, July 16, 2009 at McKay-Dee Hospital.
He was born June 12, 1925 in Ogden, Utah to Edgar and Mildred Hadlock Russell. He was raised and educated in Ogden area schools.
On November 12, 1968, Ray married Gloria Watkins in Elko, Nevada. She preceded him in death on March 10, 2006.
Ray served during World War II in the United States Navy as Sea 1st Class where he received the Purple Heart.
He was a member of the LDS Church and served in various callings.
Ray worked and retired from Hill Field as an aircraft repairman.
He had a love of horses and riding. He was a member of the Weber County Sheriff''s Posse.
Ray and his sweetheart, Gloria, and their two dogs, enjoyed traveling and spent winters away and summers at Bear Lake.
He enjoyed playing cards and he could cheat well. He was happiest when his kids and grandkids where with him. He also loved to build.
Ray is survived by six sons, Don Russell, Shawn (Jaime) Russell, Jerry Russell, Scott (Cindy) Russell, Craig (Linda) Russell Steve (Rayetta) Morlock; six daughters, Gail (Doug) McNeeley, Cheryl (Lyman) Stoker, Ann (Bruce) Cheney, LaRae Russell, Shona (Stan) Adams, Clair Miller; two brothers, Ken Russell, Boyd Russell; a sister, Verla Shaw; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife and a son, John Russell.
