Our beloved husband, father and grandfather, Raymond E. Smith, left his earthly home and returned to his heavenly home on Wednesday, September 5, 2012. Raymond was born to Edwin Ewing and Lois Dinsdale Smith on January 2, 1928 in Ogden Utah. After leaving military service he met and married Colleen Anderson on October 29, 1948 in the Salt Lake Temple.

Our happy-go-lucky Dad was our greatest example of patience, kindness and selflessness. His affable personality and quick wit endeared him to those who he came in contact with. Dad cherished time with his family above all else. In his later years his great-grandchildren were his greatest joy.

Ray was a dedicated pharmaceutical salesman for many years, and retired as Division Manager for McKesson Drug Co. He was also a musician who played the clarinet, harmonica and piano. He treasured the outdoors, where he skied, fished and mountain-biked. He enjoyed gardening, oil painting, and caring for his dogs (Rex, Yogi and Kimo to name a few). Dad also loved a good game of billiards with his buddies down at the Senior Center.

Raymond is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He had a strong testimony of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, which was evidenced by the many church callings he faithfully held throughout his life. After retirement Ray and Colleen spent several years serving those with spiritual and temporal needs.

Ray is survived by his spouse, Colleen, as well as his four children: Raylene Thueson (Byron), Cheryl Smith, Bryson Smith (Deb) and Brent Smith. He has 10 wonderful grandchildren and 13 beautiful great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by sister, Marion Stringham (Jack) and great-grandson, John Paul Domina.

Funeral services will be held Monday, September 10, 2012 at 12:00 noon at the Lakeview Ward Chapel on 455 South 1200 East, Bountiful. Friends may visit with the family Sunday from 6-8 p.m. at Lindquist''s Bountiful Mortuary 727 N. 400 E. and at the church on Monday from 10:30-11:30 prior to the services. Interment will follow at the Bountiful Lakeview Memorial Cemetery.
