Rebecca Ann Shupe

Our beloved sister, daughter, aunt and friend, Rebecca Ann Shupe, or "Becky" to family and friends slipped away from us peacefully on October 18th at the age of 53 following prolonged illness and health problems. Rebecca was a "North Ogden" Shupe where it is rumored the best Shupes come from. Childhood would see her develop incredible talents as fiddling came early, and induction into the "Shupe Family Fiddlers" was mandatory. Her family played all through northern Utah and for a while there probably wasn''t a Mormon ward house, Elk''s club, Eagle''s club, Shriner''s organization for whom they hadn''t played the old time fiddle music on a Saturday night. Rebecca was front and center with her great Texas style fiddling and incredible vocal talent.

Rebecca sang in musicals at Weber High, Weber State College and as an LDS missionary in the Vienna Austria mission. After college, Rebecca was able to study with some of the best operatic coaches in Europe where she learned several languages to increase her range of operatic roles. She performed across Europe and returned home able to still sing a silky smooth Tennessee waltz, then burn the house down with a hot "Orange Blossom Special." Rebecca also shared her fabulous talent in many Sacrament meetings throughout the years. It could be a life changing experience to hear the full scope of her operatic voice render "O Divine Redeemer".

Rebecca dedicated her life to music, her family, her nephews and nieces and to her many vocal and fiddling students. Rebecca''s greatest love was her nieces and nephews. She was a second mother to all of her brother''s and sister''s kids. "Aunt Becky" will be sorely missed, due to another talent; spoiling nephews and nieces and giving them her complete, undivided attention.

Rebecca is survived by her mother, Shirley P. Murdock, step-father Max Murdock, brother James R. Shupe (Chris Shupe), sister Tammy L Fife, sister Elizabeth Haynes, brother Rex Tyler Shupe (Lynette Shupe), sister Mary Dove Carden (Beau Carden). She is preceded in death by her Father James Roy Shupe.

Becky, when you find yourself with Dad in heaven on a Saturday night, insist they pull back the tables and teach them the Virginia Reel. Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 26, 2013 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist''s Kaysville Mortuary, 400 North Main. Friends may visit family Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. at the mortuary.
