On Wednesday April 6, 2022, Rebecka Ann Stenstrom, loving wife, beloved daughter, and courageous mother of three children, peacefully passed away at the age of 38. Rebecka, Becky, or simple “B” as she was known by her family, was born on Mother’s Day, May 8 1983 at 12:40 am in Salinas, CA. It was an exceptionally brilliant spring day not because it was hot in Salinas, but because the world became brighter from the illumination of Rebecka’s radiant spirit.
She excelled in academics from a young age while participating in youth sports growing up in Redding, CA; however, it was her adventurous spirit and curiosity for life that propelled Rebecka into early adulthood. She attended multiple Universities in California, earning her Bachelors Degree in Business and pursuing her passion for the culinary arts. Throughout her life, traveling was a cornerstone hobby for Rebecka, so in 2005 she attended the Culinary Institute of America in Napa, CA where to this day, she is credited as the single greatest chef this family has ever or will ever know.
Rebecka married Steven Eric Stenstrom in the summer of 2017 and together they raised their three children, Joaquin, Logan, and Amelia. The woman who was born on Mother’s Day in 1983, often expressed that despite her love of travel and adventure, the single greatest joy in this world is being a Mother and raising a beautiful family. Rebecka is remembered for her joyous spirit, pointedly quick wit, beautifully radiant smile and love for her family and friends.
Rebecka is survived by her husband, Steven Stenstrom, her three children Joaquin, Logan, and Amelia; her parents Teresa and Steven Struve; her father Paul Kalista; her brother Joshua Kalista and his wife Elissa; her uncle Keith Ownby; her grandmother JoAnn Ownby; and several cousins.
