Reese Warner Thorne
May 4, 2004-June 12, 2022
On Sunday June 12, 2022 Reese passed away peacefully at home while waiting to go to the lake, one of his favorite Sunday activities. Reese was born, with his twin brother, in Ogden on May 4, 2004 and adopted by his parents, Michael and Carla Thorne on September 12, 2005. (Reese's twin brother passed away in December 2004).
Reese attended Oak Hills Elementary, Meadowbrook Elementary, South Davis Junior High and Bountiful High School, where he was able to participate in the graduation ceremony on May 27, 2022. In high school he loved to participate in choir and band classes and hang out with his friends at lunch time. His highlights of high school included hanging out with his peer tutors and attending prom with his best girl, Kamille, who he had loved since kindergarten.
In 2012, Reese found the other love of his life, running. He began to run (with assistance from his friends), any distance they would take him but he became especially fond of the half marathon and triathlon races. He also found an appetite for other adrenaline sports like paragliding and skiing. Reese's favorite weekends were spent racing with his friends and on the lake with his family who he loved so much. The occasional all night party with his mom or nurses also seemed to be some of his favorite times.
Being an uncle was something Reese was very proud of, especially being the fun-uncle. He was the best at keeping their secrets and showing them how to find the bright side of things.
Reese met many challenges in life from the very beginning but always somehow faced them head on with strength, patience and a smile.
Reese's family is so thankful for the time we got to spend with him and the lessons he taught us along the way. He became the glue that kept our family close over the years.
We want to share our sincere thanks to the nurses who helped us care for Reese, Dr. Nancy Murphy for her exceptional care and everyone who helped Reese cross the finish line at his 391 races. A special thank you to Zach Talley who made Reese's dream of Boston Qualifying a reality.
Reese is survived by his father Michael Thorne, mother Carla Thorne and siblings LeGrand (Kimberly) Thorne, Ambarae Manco and Nicholette (Logan) Smith. As well as his nieces and nephews, Skylar, Lilly, Sophia, Henry, Watson, Gunnar and Rykar. And his grandpa Gale Thorne Sr and many aunts, uncles and cousins that he loves very much.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents Carl and Vera Reese, his grandmother Donna Thorne, his cousins Matthew Thorne, Henson Thorne and Brenda Bellis, uncle Kenny Reese and his brother Devonte.
