Rella Jaynes Wallace

“Together Forever”

Rella Jaynes Wallace passed away on Tuesday, January 21, 2014 at her home.  She was born on August 2, 1923 in Crescent, Utah, to Arzie H. and Mary Ellen Hardcastle Jaynes.  Rella grew up in Sandy, Utah and graduated from Jordan High School.  While in her senior year, in 1942, she went to a dance and met the love of her life, Bruce E. Wallace.  Rella and Bruce were married on March 3, 1943.  Rella and Bruce celebrated 69 years of married life together.  They had a daughter, Ellen Wallace Sharp, and a son, Bruce H. Wallace.

Rella and Bruce worked at the State Industrial School for many years, and then Rella transferred to The Division of Family Services.  She retired from Family Services with over 30 years with the State.  She and Bruce hitched up the trailer and away they went! They had many years traveling around the country and making friends.

She was a beautiful woman! She had a heart of gold and would help anyone she could.  Her family and friends were more important to her than anything else.  Rella enjoyed her retirement by painting, making porcelain figurines, crocheting, knitting, and making gorgeous quilts.  She helped start and was an active member of the Material Girls Quilt Guild. Rella won several ribbons on her quilts.  She also enjoyed gardening and was famous in the family for her green thumb.  Rella was a past President of the Lady of Elks of Roy, Utah, where she helped with many charity works and spent many years serving with her husband Bruce.

Rella is survived by her son, Bruce H. (Kay) Wallace; six grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; brother, Theron (Jeannette) Jaynes; two sisters, Luana (Jay) Winkler; and Carol (Glen) Howlet; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bruce; her daughter, Ellen; both of her parents, and brother, Lynn Jaynes.

Graveside services will be held on Monday, January 27, 2014 at 2 p.m. at Lindquist’s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.  Friends may visit with family on Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Monday from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd.
