Re Nae Rogers Steiner

Re Nae Rogers Steiner passed away on July 10, 2015, after complications from a recent stroke. She was born July 15, 1937, the daughter of Cecil Clay Rogers and Idella Ethel Carter. She was reared in Ogden, UT, and attended Ogden City Schools and was graduated from Ogden High School and LDS Seminary in 1955. She received the first foreign language scholarship ever offered by Weber State College, from where she received an AA degree in 1957. Re Nae also was graduated from the LDS Institute program.

She subsequently attended BYU and the University of Utah. In 1956-57 she served in the Ogden LDS Regional Mission where she was a missionary to Spanish-speaking people in Weber County.

On December 7, 1960, she married Gayelord R. Steiner in the Manti LDS Temple. They lived in Ogden, as well as in North Las Vegas, NV, and Denver, CO, where she was active in music and teaching positions in the LDS Church. She was a private piano teacher in Denver. After moving back to Ogden, as a member of the 44th ward, she served on the stake Relief Society Board, in music, and in Mother Education. She also served as relief society visiting teacher and supervisor. Re Nae was the ward organist for nearly 30 years.

Re Nae worked in the human resources department in the Ogden School District, and retired after 21 years.

At the time of her death, Re Nae was a member of the Brighton Gardens branch.

She is survived by her children, Scott G. Steiner (Patricia) of The Woodlands, TX; Craig L. Steiner, Draper, UT; Sean R. Steiner (Julianne), Ogden, UT; and Cherie Steiner, Draper, UT. She is also survived by seven grandchildren; and by her sisters, Norene Emerson (Raymond), Houston, TX; Judy Johnson (Delbert), Plain City, UT; and Gary “Buzz” Rogers (Leslie), North Ogden, UT. She is preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and her oldest sister Betty Kroepelin.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, July 15, 2015 at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. Friends may meet with the family on Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Wednesday from 9:45-10:45 a.m. at the mortuary.

Interment, Lindquist’s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.
