Renate Erika Krisch George

6/13/41 a€" 10/1/10 Fruit Heights/Kaysville/Layton - Our sweet angel mother, Renate Erika Krisch George, gently passed from this life into the arms of her eternal sweetheart the evening of October 1, 2010. While we will miss her terribly, we are so grateful for her love, example, testimony and legacy. She was an "elect lady" to the very end. Renate was born June 13, 1941 in Selbongen, East Prussia to faithful parents, Wilhelm Krisch and Emma Stank Krisch. She will be forever grateful for the small, obscure Selbongen LDS Branch where she saw faith and hope in action amid the sore trials of World War II and its aftermath. Those experiences sealed in her at a very young age an absolute, firm testimony in her Savior, Jesus Christ. After WW II she lived in communist Poland until the age of 16. Because of her circumstances growing up, she cherished the religious and other freedoms granted when she moved to the United States. She was proud to be an American! After a 14 A½ year separation from her father, her family was finally reunited in Salt Lake City on August 8, 1957. Shortly thereafter, they were sealed for time and all eternity in the LDS Salt Lake Temple. Renate and her family settled in Bountiful, Utah and she graduated from Bountiful High School. After two years of courtship, Renate married her sweetheart, Carter A. George, in the Salt Lake Temple on June 17, 1960. A short time later, they moved to Georgia, then Florida, where they would spend the next 14 years making lifelong friends having wonderful experiences too numerous to mention. In 1975, they moved from Orlando, Florida and settled in the Kaysville area to finish raising their growing family. My mother said that she was blessed with 7 faithful children and their loving spouses, 26 grandchildren, and one great-granddaughter. Renate was blessed with many opportunities to serve, which blessed her life immeasurably with faith and dear friends. She served as a service missionary/docent in the LDS Museum of Church History and Art for 10 years, then as an ordinance worker in the Bountiful Temple. She recently completed a fulltime 18-month mission in the Family and Church History Mission in Salt Lake City where she labored in the Family History Library on the International Floor. Renate is survived by mother, Emma Krisch; sister, Christa (Larry) Rowe; and 7 children and their spouses: Daryl (Diony) George, Debra (Robert) Hunsaker, David (Nancy) George, Duane (Aleshia) George, Daniel (Shirley) George, Dennis (Sarah) George, and Demere (Todd) Knecht. Survived by her husband Carter''s brothers and sisters: Margaret George, E. William Klev, Don (Vilate) George, Carol George (Reed) Roberts, Shirl (Carolyn) George, Keith (Coleen) George, Cal George, James (Kathie) George), Jeri George (Don) Jordan, Dale (Karen) George and many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her father, Wilhelm Krisch, husband, Carter A. George, grandson, Jon George Hunsaker, parents-in-law, Aaron R. George and Edith Amundsen George and several of Carter''s brothers and sisters. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, October 5, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at the Layton Fort Lane LDS Chapel, 1402 N. Fort Lane. Friends may visit family Monday, October 4, 2010 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Lindquist''s Layton Mortuary, 1867 North Fairfield Road and Tuesday from 9:30 to 10:30 at the church. Interment will be held at the Bountiful City Cemetery.
