Renee N. Grant

May 16, 1930 ~ June 17, 2017

After celebrating their 67th anniversary on June 16th, with Calvin by her side,Renee N. Grant peacefully passed away the following morning.

Marian Renee Nielsen Grant was born on May 16, 1930 to Lyman and Marian Green Nielsen in Hyrum, Utah.  After graduating from Ogden High School in 1948, she married her first love Calvin Theurer Grant in the Logan Temple on June 16, 1950.  Known as “Mrs. Bull”, she and Calvin resided in the Ogden area all her life while Calvin owned and operated Grant Range Bulls.  Renee was always grateful that she could stay home and raise her three children.

She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and served in many callings. She had a lovely singing voice and enjoyed singing in church choirs and in a double trio with 5 good friends.  For the past 23 years Renee and Calvin resided in Pleasant View.

Renee was a wonderful homemaker for Calvin, her children, grandchildren and extended family.  Together they celebrated holidays and birthdays with love, laughter and good food.  Renee was an excellent cook – her apple pie was famous! Christmas Spirit was alive every Christmas Eve with the traditional get together at their home. For many summers, family vacations were spent at Bear Lake.  She enjoyed traveling with Calvin and visited Mexico, Hawaii, Scotland, Canada and many states.  She served on the Ogden Pioneer Days Committee for several years judging the parade floats.

The family wishes to express a special appreciation to Teri Hicks for her loving care to Renee for the past several years and appreciation to Pine View Transitional Care Center, Quail Meadow Assisted Living, and the wonderful nurses from Brighton Hospice.

Renee is preceded in death by her parents and brother, Theron. She is survived by her husband Calvin; children, Douglas C. (Sheryl) Grant, Beverly G. (Joseph) Shern, and Jeffrey L. (Tamara) Grant;  eleven grandchildren: Mitch, Brandy, Tim, Clint, Todd, Trisha, Emily, Lara, Tera, and Andie; and great-grandchildren,  Cannon and Piper (with two in the oven) all of whom will miss her dearly.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday June 24, 2017 at 2 pm at Lindquist’s North Ogden Mortuary, 2140 N. Washington Blvd.  The family will meet with friends on Friday, June 23 from 6 to 8 pm and Saturday, 12:30 to 1:30 pm at the Mortuary.  Interment, Lindquist’s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.
