Renee Profaizer Nielsen
March 3, 1940 ~ January 23, 2017
Renee Leona Profaizer Nielsen passed away peacefully Monday, January 23, 2017 surrounded by her loving family. After a valiant battle with on-going health issues she is now free of the pain, discomforts and physical impairments that have kept her from doing some of the things she loved most.
She was born March 3, 1940 in Ogden, Utah to Charles Emil and Mildred Mortenson Profaizer. She graduated from Ben Lomond High School, Class of 1958.
On September 28, 1961, Renee married E. Don Nielsen. They are the loving parents of Todd and Kris. Renee gained another son, Gary, and another daughter, Marilyn, through her marriage to Don. She always enjoyed sports, whether watching or playing. Whether it be softball, boating, camping, golf, bowling or snowmobiling, she was great at all of them. She was a loyal Utah Jazz fan from day one. Playing cards with the family was another sport she loved and will be sorely missed for the Saturday lunch from Taco Time and cards. She was good at cards and loved going to Wendover. She and Don enjoyed their time together as they traveled and cruised various places.
Renee made a career working for the IRS at the Ogden Service Center, retiring in 1996 with 37 years of dedicated service. As the Error Resolution Section Chief, she thoroughly loved her job and received numerous awards and recognition for her excellent work.
Renee was dearly loved by her family. One of her greatest joys was spending time with them, including her grandkids and great-grandkids. She loved her family as dearly as they loved her. She also enjoyed the companionship of her faithful Yorkie, Tiki. Renee was proud of her family – each and every one of them. She so enjoyed all holidays because that meant family get-togethers for scrumptious dinners or just pizza. Halloween was definitely chili night at grandmas.
She is survived by her husband, Don, their children, Todd (Dawnell) Nielsen, Roy; Gary (JulieAnne) Nielsen, Roy; Kristine (Brent) Roylance, West Haven; Marilyn Baldonado (Anthony Romero), New Mexico; four sisters, Patsy (Vern) Hawkins, Helen (Larry) LaRoque, Donna (Jerry) Roberts, and Clare Taylor. She has 17 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents and two grandchildren.
The family extends a special thank you to the staff at Encompass Home Care and Hospice services and Lotus Park for the loving care they provided Renee.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, January 27, 2017 at Lindquist’s Roy Mortuary, 3333 West 5600 South. The family will meet with friends Thursday, January 26th from 6 to 8 p.m. and Friday, prior to the services from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at the mortuary.
