Renske B. Shelton

Renske B. Shelton “Grandma Sugar” OGDEN – Renske Boekweg Shelton, 88, died Tuesday, July 14, 2009 at her daughter’s home in Ogden. She was born December 29, 1920 in Porterville, Utah, a daughter of Jacob and Anneke Ophiekens Boekweg. Renske married James Robert Shelton on November 1, 1938 in Ogden. James preceded her in death on November 19, 1985. She was a pie baker and “donut lady” at Rush Pie and Winchell’s Donut Shop. Her favorite saying was “Come and give your Grandma some sugar” – hence “Grandma Sugar” was her nickname for years. She loved to travel all over the world. She loved “Happy Hour” and going to Wendover. She enjoyed spending time in her yard and loved to make latch hook pillows and rugs. Renske’s family was the most important priority and she is loved, and will be missed. We would like to give a very special thanks to her granddaughter, Lisa Brown, for all her loving care and affection for the past seven years. We could not have made it without her. The family wishes to thank Access Home Care and Hospice for all their loving care – especially Sara, Paul, Nancy, Julie, Vladimire, Judy and Allen. Surviving are three sons and two daughters, Dan (Rita) Shelton, Hooper; Don (Cathy) Shelton, West Jordan; Dean (Kathy) Shelton, Roy; Pauline (James – deceased) Fitzsimmons, Washington Terrace; Emma Brown, Ogden; 45 grandchildren, 70 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great-grandchildren. Also surviving are two brothers and one sister, Kenneth (Shirley) Buckway, George Buckway and Josephine Thomas. She was preceded in death by her husband, four brothers and four sisters. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. Friends may call at the mortuary on Saturday from 8:45 to 10:45 a.m. Interment, Ogden City Cemetery.
