Together Again. Reta Jane Dawson Heslop returned to her beloved Father in Heaven on Friday, May 18, 2012. She was reunited with her Eternal Companion Carl, two months to the day of his passing.
She was born February 26, 1925 in West Point, Utah the second of four children born to loving parents, George Ralph and Reta Thurgood Dawson. Jane grew up on the family farm in West Point and enjoyed her childhood surrounded by many cousins. Working shoulder to shoulder with her parents in the field, Jane knew the meaning of hard, honest work. She learned to be an amazing cook and doted on her younger sister, Irene, who was her best friend. In her younger years she loved to attend local dances, where she met her true love, Carl.
On July 27, 1945, Jane married Carl Heslop. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she served faithfully in many callings. All that knew Jane came to know her gentle manner and her testimony of her Heavenly Father.
Carl and Jane where blessed with three children, Bud, Lloyd, and Jann. Her family was her everything, and those who were part of it were blessed indeed. Kind, caring, strong willed, spiritual and selfless, Jane, was the ultimate nurturer and example for all. Be it family, friend, or stranger, no one left their home without many offerings of food or drink, and a treat or two. Many loving memories were originated and shared by children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and friends on their small farm in West Point. Their home was full of love, laughter, and most often times the aroma of a good supper to come. When visiting Jane or in passing you were sure to see that sweet smile and wink that characterized her nature.
She enjoyed gardening, cooking, sewing and quilting. She worked for the Davis School District for many years as a cook and 16 years as an aide to Carl with the Special Needs Bus.
Jane is survived by her children, Bud Heslop, Lloyd Heslop, and Jann (Dan) Moss, 13 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Carl, two beautiful grandchildren, Nicole "Nikki" Heslop and Adam Nicholas Moss, her parents and her siblings.
The family would like to extend a special "thank you" to Dawn and Kathy of IHC Hospice, the staff at Country Pines Assisted Living Center and Janet Heslop for all the love and care given to Mom in her last days.
Funeral services will be held Friday, May 25th at 11 a.m. at the West Point Stake Center Chapel, 2300 West 550 North.
