Reuel Simeon Kohler

Reuel (92) passed from this earthly existence on March 10, 2013, to be with waiting loved ones. He was born the eighth child of Simeon and Rosa B. Kohler. The son of a hard working masonry contractor, he learned early how to work and he never, ever stopped. When he was sixteen, his father died unexpectedly and he stepped up to support his mother. He served in the U.S. Navy in WWII and the Korean War. During Naval Officer Training at the University of Rochester, New York he met his sweetheart Dolores, scratched her phone number into the shine on his shoe so he could remember it, and thus began a life long romance that was sealed in the LDS Logan Temple.

His family lived in Utah, Idaho, California, and Alaska before returning to settle in Bountiful, Utah. Reuel worked for Utah Power & Light before founding Kohler Investment Realty, Westwind Sales & Supply, The Sandcastle Theaters and the Marble House Gallery with his wife. He graduated from the University of Utah, earning both a BS and an MBA.

He served, with his wife, as a temple worker in the Bountiful Temple and they also completed a mission together to the Los Angeles Temple Visitors Center.

He led a full and satisfying life. He blew spit-wads at teachers when that wasn''t a terrible thing to do. He and his friends pulled a carriage to the roof of his school to the amazement of the town. He drove his uncle''s model-T around town when he was thirteen and he plucked so many chickens as a child he would never eat chicken again. He got an iPhone when he was 91. He played the violin, and built rock walls and fireplaces. He created jewelry and he worked leather. He loved red cars, coconut cream pie, fine art, music, his new apple computer, two-pocket shirts, his bomber jacket, homemade vegetable soup, helping people and testifying of the gospel. He was a renaissance man and a problem solver.

He is survived by Dolores, his wife of 66 years, and their four children: Richard Kohler [Jennifer] of St. George, Utah, Kathryn Farnsworth of Mesa, Arizona, Linda Barnes [Edwin C.] of Park City, Utah, and Pamela Conners of Ocean Beach, Washington.

He will be missed by his grandchildren, great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents as well as his 3 brothers and 4 sisters. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am March 23, 2013 at Lindquist''s Bountiful Mortuary 727 N 400 E, Bountiful, UT 84010.
