Reva Josephine (Frazer) Macfarlane

LAYTON - Reva Josephine (Frazer) Macfarlane beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great-great grandmother was called home on Thursday, June 28, 2016. Reva was born on February 16, 1921 in Milford, Utah, the first of three daughters to Sherman Frazer and Martha Vernetta (Baldwin) Frazer. She was raised and educated in Cedar City, Utah, where she loved art and music. She loved to paint and draw and won several art contests and was the High School band majorette.

She married Lewis Macfarlane on August 1, 1938 in Beaver, Utah. They were blessed with two children, Sandra and Sherm. The family’s roots originated in Cedar City, Utah and after the war they moved to Layton, Utah where they have resided ever since. Mom and Dad were sealed in the Logan Temple on August 25, 1950.

Our mom was a fabulous cook and pie maker and always had a wonderful meal ready for her husband, the children and any other family member, neighbor or friend who wandered by. Mom worked as an office secretary/assistant for Dr. Wesley Wilcox DDS, for many years.

Reva was always an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and held many callings and leadership positions including; Relief Society President, Young Women’s presidency, and gospel doctrine teacher. She and Dad served temple missions at the original Ogden, Utah Temple, and a Service Locator Mission in SLC, Utah. Mom also served a Service Mission at the Layton Deseret Industries, where they lovingly called her the “Queen of the DI”.

She was preceded in death by her; husband Lewis Macfarlane, parents Sherman and Vernetta Frazer, sisters and brothers-in- law; Lila and Sam Leigh, Colleen and Peter Nelson, great-grandsons Trenton Bodily and twins, Chance and Tanner Macfarlane.

She is survived by 8 grandchildren, Kyle Bodily, Bryan Bodily, Chris Bodily, Annette Ukena, Brook Blackner, Alisa Livingston, Ashly Beynon and Braden Macfarlane.

In her later years she resided at Fairfield Village of Layton, where she loved and interacted with the staff. Her sense of humor and kidding nature will be loved and missed by all. Special thanks to all of those friends and ward members who loved and befriended “Reva”.
