Reva Wadsworth
1926-2013
Reva Elaine Marx Wadsworth, age 87, died October 12, 2013 at the Kaysville home of her daughter, Sue Noorda. Born May 5, 1926, Manti, Utah to Ervin Edgar Marx and Edna Anderson Marx, reared in Sterling, second of nine children.
Married Grant Wadsworth May 8, 1947 (later divorced.) Nine children: Leslie Hoxsie (Michael), Mark, Jeffrey, Janet Wilkinson, Denise Willey (Donell J.), Stephanie Bell, Carol Nelson Pope, Sue Noorda (Jeffrey), and Joseph Wadsworth. 40 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren.
Survived by eight children, six brothers and sisters: Carol Neptune, Dixie Olson, Ronald Marx, Dolores Yates, Gary Marx, and Robert Marx, and preceded in death by a son, Mark; two sisters, Sharon Thorup, and Carma Gunnerson, her parents, and one grandson, Jonathan Hoxsie.
BS in Music/English, and M.Ed in Communications from University of Utah. Taught school in Davis District for many years.
Active in the LDS Church all her life and served in many callings, especially loved her calling as gospel doctrine teacher. Served a stake mission, two full-time missions, served in the Salt Lake Temple and a hostess/tour guide on Temple Square. Member of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir and, later, loved to attend their broadcasts and concerts with the orchestra on Temple Square.
Always civic and politically minded, she founded the US Constitution Stars Quiz Bowl, and worked tirelessly to educate thousands of students and families, regarding the rights and freedoms guaranteed by the Constitution. She authored books and many pamphlets and articles. Awarded the George Washington Medal of Honor by the Freedoms Foundation of Valley Forge.
She was a third generation “Daughters of the Utah Pioneers.”
Funeral services will be held 11:00 am Saturday, October 19, 2013 at the Orchard 3rd Ward Chapel, 261 E. Center St. North Salt Lake. Friends may visit family Friday, Oct. 18th from 6-8 pm at Lindquist’s Bountiful Mortuary, 727 N. 400 E. and 9:30-10:30 am prior to services at the church. Interment Lakeview Memorial Park, Bountiful.
