Rex Youd Creer

Rex Youd Creer passed away on Saturday, July 18, 2009 at his home in Fruit Heights, Utah where he resided for the past 26 years. Rex was born January 2, 1917 at Lake Shore, Utah. He was the third son of the late William Robert and Ann Elizabeth Youd Creer. Rex grew up on the family farm with his five brothers: Maj. Gen. William Edward Creer, deceased, J. Youd Creer, deceased, Joseph E. Creer, Brent Y. Creer and Glade Youd Creer, deceased.
Rex moved to Santa Monica, California after graduating from Spanish Fork High School in 1934. He began his lifelong career in the welding industry at Douglas Aircraft Company soon after relocating. Rex went on to hold many positions in industry, both craft and supervisory. He was instrumental in developing many innovative welding processes that are used today. He always had a can-do attitude, and a tireless drive for completing projects.
Rex and Virginia Hight, Farmington, Utah married in the Salt Lake Temple on April 23, 1943. Rex and Virginia made their family home in Farmington, Utah for 34 years. They raised five children in Farmington before moving to Idaho Falls in 1977. Rex and Virginia returned to Utah in 1983.
Rex is preceded in death by his infant son J. Alan and his daughter Mary Jane. He is survived by his wife Virginia, daughters Ann (Bernie) Moscowitz and Kathryn Creer, sons William Rex (Catherine Louise) Creer and Wallace H. (Peggy) Creer, and grandchildren Christina Wear, Connie Brueckner, Cara Brueckner, Catherine Brueckner, Courtney Brueckner, Adrienne Creer, Collin Creer, Casey Creer and Joseph Creer.
Interment will be held Thursday, July 23, 2009 at 11 a.m. at the Farmington City Cemetery.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, July 25, 2009 at 11 a.m. at the Fruit Heights 8th Ward, 170 No. Mtn. Road with Bishop Richard Willis, officiating.
