Rex W. Passey
KAYSVILLE – Rex W. Passey, age 90, passed away Wednesday, December 16, 2015. Born December 28, 1924 in Paris, Idaho, the 7th of 8 children, and only son of Ezra T. and Mary Irettia Passey. Rex grew up in Paris and graduated from Fielding High School in 1943. He enlisted in the US Army during WWII and served three years as part of the 88th infantry in Italy. One month after returning home he met his beloved Donna Michaelson and they were married September 3, 1946 in the Idaho Falls Temple. They recently celebrated their 69th anniversary. They are the parents of four children, LaVone (John) Arkoudas, Bryce (Carolyn), Wynn (Annie) and Bret (Nadine).
Rex graduated from Weber State College and Utah State University and began a 37 year teaching career, most of those at Davis High School teaching History. He and Donna made their home in Kaysville for the past 58 years. Dad loved to hunt and fish with his most memorable days spent in the mountains with his children and grandchildren.
Dad’s life was dedicated to his family, his God and his community. He and mother nurtured and cared for their neighbors and truly exemplified the commandment to succor the weak, lift up the hands that hang down, and strengthen the feeble knees. Dad served in many callings including a full time mission with mom in 1990 to Lansing, MI and an ordinance worker in both the Ogden and Bountiful temples.
Rex is survived by his four children, 20 grandchildren and 42 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and seven sisters as well as his beloved Donna who preceded him just 5 weeks ago.
The family wishes to thank Fairfield Village, Julie, Rachel, Cheryl and April with CNS Hospice and their many friends in the Kaysville 3rd ward.
Funeral services will be held Monday, December 21, 2015 at 11 a.m. at the Crestwood Stake Center, 855 E. Mutton Hollow Road, Kaysville. Friends may visit family Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road and Monday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church.
