OGDEN a€" Rex Wayment, 87, passed away Wednesday, July 6, 2011 peacefully at the George E.Wahlen Ogden Veteran''s Home.

He was born March 8, 1924 in Warren, Utah to Rodney and Ellen Bullock Wayment.

Rex married Jenett Davis in Ogden on November 28, 1949. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple in 1960. In that union, they had three children. Jenett passed away in 1980.

He was a faithful member of the LDS Church and held many positions including Stake High Council from age 70 to 81, Stake Athletic Director for 11 years and High Priest and Home Teacher. He was a Board member for the Warren Cemetery for 20 years. He worked as a Mechanic at Mountain States Implement for 33 years and retired from the Ogden City School District in 1987.

Rex was a veteran of World War II having served in the Philippines and Guam.

He enjoyed gardening, golfing with his buddies and fishing with his brother, Victor.

Surviving him are his children, Dale R (Sharlene) Wayment, North Ogden; LaRae (Craig) Nelson, Janice Wayment both of Warren, 13 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. Also surviving is his brother, Victor (Nita) Wayment.

Rex was preceded in death by his wife, parents, brother & sister-in-law, Willard and Thelma.

Funeral services will be held Monday, July 11, 2011 at 11 a.m. at the Warren Ward, 856 North 5900 West.

Friends may visit family on Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist''s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. and Monday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. at the church.
