Rhonda Gail McMillan
Rhonda Gail McMillan, 52, passed away Thursday, May 21, 2009 at her sister Julie Scott''s home with her family by her side following a courageous battle with lung cancer.
She was born March 26, 1957 in Ogden, Utah the daughter of Ronald Gale and Karen Louise Baker McMillan.
Rhonda served in the United States Navy and United States Air Force.
She had resided in Portugal for two years, raised in Fairfield, CA; where she graduated from Fairfield High School in 1975, Pacifica, CA; Salt Lake City, Utah and Layton, Utah.
Rhonda was a member of the LDS Church. She served a mission in 1978 in St. Louis, Missouri and had served as Sunday school teacher, Relief Society Visiting Teacher and Young Women''s Youth Leader.
She was a volunteer in spiritual services at the VA Hospital, served in medical services for the Hispanic community, Blood Drive Coordinator and facilitator for the 12 step program. Rhonda was proud to work at the University of Utah Hospital as a Transfer Coordinator. She loved her job and co-workers.
Rhonda was a life-long animal lover. She never met a stranger and quickly welcomed all as new friends.
Surviving are her mother and step-father, Karen and Mel Younggren, Layton, UT; sisters, Julie (Wayne) Scott, Layton; Michelle (Rob) Gorman, Bremerton, WA; Karen McMillan, San Francisco, CA; Jennifer (Marc) Jasper, Poland; brothers, Ronald McMillan, Los Angeles, CA; Steve (Deanna) Riley, Vacaville, CA; Scott (Joanne) Riley, Benicia, CA; Drew (Sarah) Riley, England; four nephews, Andrew Scott, Adam Scott, Logan Scott and Chad Gorman, and three nieces, Rachel Fry, Paige Gorman and Carly Gorman.
Preceded in death by her grandparents and father.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 30, 2009 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist''s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road. Friends and family may call Saturday from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. at the mortuary.
Interment, Farmington City Cemetery.
The family would like to thank Dr. Ackerly and his team at the Huntsman Cancer Institute and Rocky Mountain Hospice for their love and care.
