Ric Belnap, born on April 21, 1953, in Salt Lake City UT, passed away on Tuesday, November 14, 2023, following an extended illness. He was the son of Maurine P. and Kenneth L. Belnap and spent his formative years in Salt Lake City, Orem, and Clearfield. Ric achieved academic success, graduating from Clearfield High School, Weber State University, the University of Utah, and completing post-graduate studies at the University of Phoenix.
Ric proudly served in the US Navy from 1976 to 1979 aboard the USS Sculpin. Throughout his professional journey, he contributed to notable projects as a planner and scheduler on Frontrunner, Trax, and other commuter/light rail initiatives in San Diego and Portland. His career extended to projects like the Minuteman III missile system and various theme park rides.
Ric found joy in diverse interests, including taking cruises, attending plays and musicals, and participating in bowling leagues wherever he lived. An avid amateur radio operator, Ric was passionate about his hobby and held a license. He also shared his musical talents as a member of the Salt Lake Men’s Choir, creating cherished memories with friends and family.
Ric is survived by his brother-in-law, niece, nephews, and their children. He is preceded in death by his parents and sister. The family extends heartfelt appreciation to the numerous caregivers who provided support to Ric in managing his health and comfort during the past few years.
Graveside services will be held on Saturday, November 18, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. at Hooper Cemetery. Friends may visit with family on Friday, November 17, 2023, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Lindquist’s Syracuse Mortuary, 869 South 2000 West.
