Richard C. Allen
1931~2010
Richard Cardell Allen, 79, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, peacefully passed away with his wife and children by his side Wednesday, December 1, 2010.
He was born and raised in Logan, Utah to Rogers and Mercy Allen. After graduation from Logan High School, Richard attended Utah State University and received a BA in History and French and entered the ROTC. He served as an Officer in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He returned home and married Margaret Adams, of Hyrum, in the Logan LDS Temple.
Richard received a MS in History and English from the U of U, and an Ed. S from USU. He influenced many students though the years of service in the Davis County schools. He started his career at North Davis Jr. High School, continued at Clearfield High School, and finished his career as vice principal and later principal of Woods Cross High School.
It was difficult to find a frown on his face. He loved his family and the outdoors. He rarely shied away from anything adventurous. He enjoyed greeting the many visitors to Antelope Island as a Utah State Parks volunteer.
Richard was an active High Priest in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served primarily in teaching positions. He served as a Bountiful Temple ordinance worker, church service missionary, and was serving as Ward Clerk at the time of his passing.
He is preceded in death by his parents, brother and sister.
Richard is survived by his wife, Margaret of 53 years; brother Robert, and three sons; H. Richard (Sharon), Thomas R. (Rayleen), and Scott J. (Mary) Allen, 12 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Monday, December 6, 2010 at 11 a.m. at the Kaysville 4th Ward Chapel, 875 E. 200 No., Kaysville. Friends may visit family on Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist''s Kaysville Mortuary, 400 North Main and Monday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. at the church. Interment, Kaysville City Cemetery, where military honors will be accorded.
The family wishes to thank the staff of the IMC Cardiac Care Unit for the loving assistance they provided to him while he was in their care.
