RICHARD HOLTON COLLINGS
1932-2014
Our loving husband, father, and grandfather, Richard Holton Collings, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on July 15, 2014 at the age of 82.
Richard was born on March 1, 1932, in Brigham City, Utah, to Thomas W. Collings and Hortense Holton Collings. He married the love of his life, Dolores Gannuscio on December 8, 1960 in Salt Lake City. They were later sealed in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They resided in Salt Lake City, Bountiful, and Centerville, Utah. They were married for 54 years.
They were blessed with three children, Jeffery Richard Collings, Ricky Lee Collings, and Pamela Collings.
He was raised in Magna and later their family moved to the Brigham City area. He graduated from Box Elder High School in 1951. He served his country in the Army during the Korean Conflict from 1952-1954. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal. He worked for Carpenter Paper Company, JC Penney’s, McKesson Office Products, Beneficial Life, and Home Depot.
He enjoyed making everything around him look beautiful. He loved gardening and landscaping, home improvement, and woodworking. He particularly loved to decorate with lights for Christmas.
He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and served in many positions including Sunday School President, Ward Clerk, and Elders Quorum instructor.
He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. He is survived by his wife Dolores G. Collings (Bountiful); children Jeffery Richard Collings (Ellen) of Kaysville, Ricky Lee Collings of Centerville, Pamela Summers (James) of Centerville. He is also survived by siblings Bill Collings, Lynn (Louise) Collings, Dorothy (Boyd) Newman, Ruth (Dale) Robinette, Glenn (Raone) Collings. He has 11 grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday July 19, 2014 at Lindquist’s Bountiful Mortuary, 727 N. 400 E. Bountiful, where friends may call from 9:00-11:00 am prior to the services. Interment Bountiful City Cemetery. Condolences may be shared at www.lindquistmortuary.com
