Our loving husband, father, and grandfather, Richard Michael Connell, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, on Saturday, April 15, 2023.
He was born in Savannah, Georgia on July 26, 1944. His parents were Carl M. and Virginia Mae Connell. Growing up in an Air Force family they moved around a lot, but he always called Newfoundland, Canada his home. He enjoyed many sports, and in high school he was a four-letter athlete in basketball, football, swimming, and bowling.
In 1977, he met Connie, the love of his life. They were sealed in the Ogden Temple and enjoyed 44 wonderful years together. They raised one girl and seven boys. Being a large family, they had many adventures together. Some of their favorite memories were Rick’s spontaneity, his love of the outdoors, hunting and fishing with his boys, and enjoying many fun road trips together.
He loved to cook, and we all loved his spaghetti and clam chowder! He loved spending time playing games and doing puzzles, but his favorite thing to do was spend time with his family, kids, and grandkids. He always had a treat for them when they came over!
Rick was an outstanding salesman and built a great career being a top seller at any place he worked.
Rick was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Some of his favorite callings were teaching Sunday School to the youth and serving as a ward clerk in the single adult ward. Together, he and Connie enjoyed serving as senior missionaries at the Family History Center in Ogden.
Rick is survived by his loving wife, Connie; his daughter, Kimberly Connell-Croston (Michael) Croston; sons, Jeff (Jen), Chad (Tenette), Ricky, Roger (Stefanie), Mick (Kellie), Cody, and Christopher (Sarah); 14 grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his favorite grandma, “Granny Jude.”
