Richard Wayne Evans

Richard Wayne Evans, son of Harvey Gomer and Orda Bell Sanderson Evans, passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by family on Easter Sunday March 31, 2013.

He was born August 7, 1936 in Spencer Iowa. As a young boy he moved to Inglewood CA, then on the death of his mother, moved back to Webb IA where he graduated from Cornell Consolidated High School. At the age of 19 he moved to Provo UT to attend Brigham Young University where he joined the LDS church. Rich then served in the Northwestern States Mission. He returned to BYU and in 1961 married his sweetheart Frances Waymire in the St George Temple. He taught Industrial Arts in high school in California and for several years at Roy High in Utah, as well as ending his teaching career at the Kaysville DATC.

He was a soccer and basketball coach and was on the Clearfield City Planning Commission. He enjoyed painting, woodworking, camping, scouting and all BYU sports. Rich and Frances served together as companions in the California, Anaheim Mission.

Richard is survived by his wife of nearly 52 years, Frances Waymire Evans.

His children: Michael Lloyd (Deborah) Evans, West Jordan UT; Denise (Mark) Flint, Syracuse UT; Marjorie Ann (Gary) Guymon, Las Vegas NV; Laura Jean (Travis) Larsen, Kaysville UT; Steven Robert (Jennifer) Evans, Layton UT; Holly (Chad) Pendleton, Layton UT. His grandchildren: Tamra, Christina, Nathan (Sara), Daniel, Scott, Emily, Nicholas, Todd, Morgan, Matthew, Joshua, Erin, Jacob, Caleb, Aubrianna, Noah, Aleah, Gabriela and Maxwell. His sister: Ann Marie (Steve) Wight, Roundup MT.

He is preceded in death by his grandson Bradley Mark Flint, his brother David Lloyd Evans and his parents.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 10, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at the Clearfield North LDS Stake Center, 151 N. 1000 W., Clearfield. Friends may visit family from 9:00 - 10:30 a.m. at the church. Interment, Clearfield City Cemetery.

Services entrusted to Lindquist''s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road.
