Richard Lewis Glismann

Richard Lewis Glismann, 79, passed away Friday, July 3, 2009 at Ogden Regional Medical Center, from lung cancer.

He was born January 12, 1930 in Freemont, Nebraska to John D. and Helen Ries Glismann.

On September 12, 1952, Richard married Bonnie Bucher in Ogden, Utah.

He was an active member of Elim Lutheran Church where he served on the Church council and as chairman of the restoration committee.

Richard retired from Unisys as a tool maker.

He was an avid rock hound for over 50 years and served as President of Golden Spike Gem and Mineral Society, President of the Rock Artisians of Utah, President of the Northwest Federation of Mineralogical Society and President of the Intermountain Faceters Guild and served as chairman of the A.F.M.S. Uniform Rules Committee. Faceting gemstones was his passion. He loved to hunt and fish. He also traveled all over the United States attending gem and mineral shows.

Richard is survived by his wife, Bonnie; a son, Rich (Carol) Glismann and a daughter, Linda (Alan) Hyde; four grandchildren, Garrett and Jordan Hyde and Warren (Bethany) Glismann and Andrew Glismann; two brothers, Verg (Carolyn) Glismann, Rudy Glismann, and a sister, Carol (Richard) Larsen.

He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant daughter, Gayle, two brothers, Leonard and John, and four sisters, Kathryn, Evelyn, Margaret and Helen.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 9th at 11 a.m. at Elim Lutheran Church, 575 23rd Street.

Family and friends may call Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist''s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd and Thursday from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the church.

Interment, Aultorest Memorial Park.
