LAYTON a€" Richard Gilbert Gonzales, age 74 of Layton, son of the late Chon and Mary Gonzales, passed away Sunday, November 20, 2011.

He was the beloved husband of Refugia (Cookie) Sanchez-Gonzales, adored by his children Richard and Kim Gonzales, Maria Gonzales, Yolanda and David Vasquez, Felix and Rachel Gonzales and Maxine and Johnny Arellano; and step-children Gilbert and Sandra Hunt and Tony Alderin. He was cherished by 16 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and five step-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his sister Virginia and granddaughter Amy, he leaves behind three brothers, Julian, Robert, Ernie, four sisters, Ida, Dora, Esther and Viola.

He filled our lives with love and laughter and the light he lit in our hearts will never go out. He served in the US Navy on the USS EG Small. He was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church and enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping.

Mass of the Christian Burial will be held Monday, November 28, 2011 at 10 a.m. at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, 210 S. Chapel St., Layton, UT. Friends may visit family Sunday from 6 to7:30 p.m. at Lindquist''s Clearfield Mortuary, 1050 South State Street. Prayer service 7:30 p.m.

Interment, Clearfield City Cemetery where military honors will be accorded on Tuesday, November 29, 2011 at 3 p.m.

In lieu of flowers family requests donations be made to the American Heart Association.
