Richard "Ric" Arthur Groves Jr. passed away on Wednesday, December 19, 2018, peacefully surrounded by family and friends.
Ric was born in Detroit Michigan on January 14, 1960 to Richard Arthur Groves Sr. and Barbara Dene Passey.
He was married to Roxann Fay Stevenson, had two children and later divorced.
He attended Viewmont High School and shortly after he attained his CDL at the age of 18. By the age of 23 he had his own trucking business. Doing long haul and hauling cars. After truck driving for many years, he then went into diesel mechanics. After a few years of mechanics he was diagnosed with cancer and retired.
His hobbies include, but are not limited to: fly fishing, tying flies, building fly rods, building model planes, ships, cars and trucks. First and foremost though, making people laugh!
The world has lost a great philosopher. Fish can now breathe easier. Diesel engines will never run the same. If everyone was blessed to have a son, brother, father, grandfather "papa", and friend like Ric, the world would truly be a better place! He was an excellent provider for his family. A true inspiration! He never gave up! The best man anyone could ever ask for. He was very straight forward and honest with everyone. I know I speak for everyone when I say he will truly forever be missed! I also know he is very happy up there with his mother, sister Deby and all of his other friends and family that he has been waiting to see again.
He is survived by his father and step mom, Richard and Norma Groves; his children, Richard "Ricky" Groves the 3rd, Barbara (Randy) Fry. Jackie Groves, Sandi Groves, Gina (Randy) Ellis; grandchildren, Aydan and Jaxon Fry.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday January 7th 2019 at the Roy 26th Ward, 3649 W. 4800 S. Roy UT 84067. After, we we will proceed Peterson exit up Weber Canyon for a ceremony. We will then proceed back to the church for further celebration.
Dads favorite poem:
Fisherman's Creed
I pray that I may live to fish
Until my dying day
And when it comes to my last cast,
I then most humbly pray!
When in the Lords great landing net,
And peacefully asleep
That in his mercy I be judged
Big enough to keep.
Arrangements entrusted to Lindquist’s Roy Mortuary.
